No, my more mature fascination with cinema, leading to a deeper obsession with not only the films themselves but also the work that went into creating them, undoubtably came from watching Taxi Driver a couple of years later. I was too young to see such a film, really, but my family made no distinctions about such things — and lucky for me, because it led to me seeing a wild array of all kinds of films as a small kid and into young-adulthood, which I think helped fine-tune my understanding and appreciation of film as an art form.
