Skull girl Thin Blue Line because he’s mine I walk this line shirt
So many people ask how to find a mentor in life. The truth is, your mentor is waiting for you somewhere out there, but you must find them. And the only way to find them is through two things: 1) Exploring far enough on your own individual journey, and 2) Being open to their input when they present themselves. C3 (I actually just ran into him at the gym last night - 7 years later) was that person for me. We met at the gym across the street from my apartment, when I was in college downtown Chicago. I was just some skinny dude trying to get big. He saw my hunger and was willing to nurture it. We lifted together every day for almost two years. I still consider him one of my closest friends.
This was, for me, the most rampant and drastic period of change—as it is for most people. As soon as you find your community, a mentor, people who see how far you’ve come and at the same time know how much farther you can (and want to) go, your path accelerates. Everything moves 3x faster. Because now it’s not just you pushing yourself. It’s you pushing yourself + a whole group of individuals that see in you what else can be improved as well. You get feedback. They challenge you. They throw you outside your comfort zone.
