The primary reason for this is because a persons voice reverberates and travels along the inside of the skull, body and up to the inner ear. At that point, you are hearing additional frequencies in your voice as you speak, which helps it sound full.
On the other hand, as your voice leaves your mouth/body and travels around the room, some frequencies are not carried with it as well (lower frequencies/lower sections of your voice, for example), and therefore sound different to other people and microphones.
