That evening there were cocktails and hors d’oeuvres at 6 p.m., followed by dinner with wine pairings at La Grenouille. Along with traditional formal table settings and florals, Julia ordered custom 42 English sterling silver roses, personally initialed with three initials on the petals for all their guests. “The story around this is that The Little Prince was a favorite growing up and a great way to learn French,” Julia explains. “The author actually wrote parts of the story in La Grenouille. Furthermore, my mother read a passage from the book during our ceremony that was very important to us. We wanted each of our guests to have one to remember what was said and felt during this day.”
The next morning they left from the Lowell Hotel, picked up their ski equipment, and left for a two-week honeymoon in St. Moritz. “It was wild packing for the wedding weekend and then packing for a ski trip, but we are so happy and grateful we made it happen. Since we’ve been back, we planned to commence the planning for a second, larger wedding in Cape Cod in October 2020—but we are in the same position as so many others who are trying to plan their upcoming weddings during the coronavirus pandemic…anxiously but respectfully waiting to see.”
