We can’t stop people living their lives because of a disease which has a death count of less than 0.
People die everyday of illnesses, diseases,suicides and accidents and we all lose people we love. It’s not ‘just like the cold and flu virus’, it IS a cold & flu virus. I would recon you have a look at Spanish flu and you will see how deadly flu can be.
. It’s risky but the economy will collapse and you need to achieve a balance. But, the lockdown is to get it under control to slow the spread so as not to overwhelm medical facilities and staff.
There isn't much I could do about it, so I would just have to accept it. We have tried to cheat the nature and now it came back to bite us. As I said before, we are part of the nature and thus we can't escape the rule of natural selection.
The problem with a vaccine is that the virus will mutate in order to overcome the vaccine, which might cause problems in the future. Eventually our immune system will adjust to it and the virus will become less potent and less deadly. People use to die from cold virus in the past and many still die from the flu virus.
