Many of the components of a classics aircraft are probably not manufactured anymore, and parts which may still exist (in museums/private collections/junk yards etc) would need to be certified as airworthy by the original company which manufactured them (known as the OEM). Unless a part has been stored correctly, in the original packaging and untouched it's likely to fail the manufacturers tests. The OEM has the authority to approve a similar component if they can demonstrate the similar component will perform as expected with respect to the original component (this is vital, since some alloys aren't made anymore). But any other change would require a new airworthiness certificate.
The Avro Vulcan XH558 (to date the largest, most complex and only 4 engined jet aircraft to have been restored to flight) managed to fly again because 8 unused and correctly stored engines were found in an RAF store, as such Rolls Royce (the OEM) were able to certify them as airworthy. This coupled with the spares purchased by David Walton from the RAF in 1993, meant the Vulcan XH558 could be certified airworthy.
